Pssst! Heavy Seas Beer's got wood.

The Heavy Seas Master of Firkins has finally released the list of what we will be serving at our Heavy Seas Real Ale & BBQ Fest on Saturday March 27!  Also new to our firkin cooperage are white oak barrels which will hold everyone’s favorite – Loose Cannon.

Stop the Beverage Tax Increase!

Legislative Alert – Want to pay $4.50 more for a case of Heavy Seas?!  Maryland House Bill 832 would raise MD beer excise taxes about 12 fold, making MD among the highest alcohol beverage tax states in the country.

Changing Tacks

I have always loved the sea. For me, it’s the perfect metaphor for life – sometimes it is calm and relaxing; sometimes it is hostile and challenging. But always the sea dictates the terms, and the navigator either responds appropriately, or suffers the consequences.

So too is business. Sailing a successful course is always a process of constant change. Failure to adjust will take one off course at best, to the bottom at worst.

Heavy Seas 2010 Seasonal and Limited Release Schedule

Try Beer This Thanksgiving

Spice up your Thanksgiving feast this season by serving beer with your holiday meal.  Craft beer is an interesting alternative to wine and provides a broader range of flavors for less than you’d spend on most wines and is also a great deal of fun.  Gather friends and explore your own unique combinations!

Heavy Seas Mutiny Fleet

Our 3rd release in the new Heavy Seas Mutiny Fleet on the horizon.  We loved the Big DIPA and our Prosit! and was glad that our fellow beer drinkers did too. Demand was so much greater than anticipated, we weren't even able to hang on to a few bottles for our library!

Oppose Federal Excise Tax Increases Email

FEEL FREE TO COPY THIS AND USE AS YOUR OWN  -Hugh

Dear Sir / Madame:

I am writing to you to urge that you stand against the proposed increase in the federal excise tax on beverage alcohol. This proposal is harmful to an already ‘taxed’  economy and would be detrimental to my community.  As an active voter I am very much against it.

Sincerely,

Organic Beer - What's the Point?

It seems like every time you turn around these days someone is hawking green this or sustainable that – sometimes to the point of being obnoxious and downright pedantic. While one can argue the net effectiveness of the “green” movement – I certainly cannot claim to have anywhere near a complete understanding – I do not think there is any doubt that it will be with us, as a movement, for the foreseeable future.
